The North Carolina softball team defeated Longwood and Ohio State on Saturday — both of which were elimination games — to advance to the NCAA Regional final on Sunday against the Tennessee Volunteers.
The Tar Heels got off to a quick start in the first game of the day, scoring a run in the first inning off a pair of hits and an error. Longwood tied the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the first, but relinquished it to the Tar Heels on a Kristina Burkhardt home run in the third, her fourth of the season.
