The No. 2-ranked North Carolina women’s soccer program defeated Washington State 2-1 in the NCAA College Cup semifinals on Friday evening.
The top-seeded Tar Heels will face off with Stanford on Sunday night — who beat UCLA by a final score of 4-1 in the tournament’s other semifinal — marking their record 26th appearance in the 38-year history of the College Cup. The program with the second-most appearances in the title game, Notre Dame, has been there just eight times. North Carolina is looking to capture its 21st NCAA title, but first since beating Penn State at Torero Stadium in 2012.
