UNC Soccer: Lady Tar Heels punch ticket to NCAA quarterfinals

The second-ranked University of North Carolina women’s soccer team topped No. 19 Michigan on Sunday afternoon to advance to a record 31st NCAA quarterfinal appearance in the 38-year history of the championship.

Freshman forward Isabel Cox recorded the first two-goal game of her young career, while senior forward Zoe Redei and junior defender Lotte Wubben-Moy each added a goal during the Tar Heels’ 4-0 rout of the Wolverines to move to 22-1-1 on the season. With the loss, Michigan saw its season end, finishing with a 17-6-1 record. It was the two teams’ first ever meeting in the history of the sport.
