Carter Jenkins fired a 68 and Henry Do and William Register each shot 69 on Sunday to lead the University of North Carolina men’s golf team to second place just two shots off the lead after the first round at the Puerto Rico Classic.
Sunday’s action was the first of three rounds at the Wyndham Rio Mar Resort and Rio Mar Country Club’s River Course.
The Tar Heels counted three rounds in the 60s and an even par 72 (Joshua Martin) to shoot a 10-under 278. Alabama leads after day one at 12-under 276. Oklahoma (281), Clemson (283) and Georgia (284) round out the top five.
