WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia - Zach Wright’s goal and assist led No. 3 North Carolina to a convincing 4-1 victory over William & Mary on a soggy Tuesday evening.
North Carolina (6-1) broke out of a mini scoring slump by scoring a season-high four goals, after being limited to only two goals in its previous three matches.
In the third minute, the Tribe’s top scorer, Tanner Shane, hit the post on a half-volley attempt that nearly put the Tar Heels in an early hole on the road.
But Carolina wound up getting the first goal when Jeremy Kelly scored on a first-touch pass from Zach Wright, who beat his defender down the right side, got to the byline and found a streaking Kelly directly in front of the goal area for a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.
