We already knew that Mack Brown wasn’t going to immediately going to turn around the direction of the 2019 football recruiting cycle, with nearly 80% of prospects choosing to sign in the winter, less than a month after he accepted the head coaching job. That Brown and his new staff were able to bring UNC up to about the top 40 from outside the top 80 is an incredible feat in and of itself, and that it included a quarterback with the ability to start Day 1 is icing. It’ll be a class that is below the average that has been established in the past several years at UNC, but, particularly if paired with strong classes before and after, will not hamper the ability of the team to be competitive.
