Coby White, the most decorated high school basketball player in the history of North Carolina, has added another honor to his ever-growing list of accolades.
On Thursday morning, the 6-foot-5, 170-pound combo guard was named the 2017-18 North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year. It’s the second time in as many years that White has won the award.
The award was established in 1985 and recognizes the nation’s most outstanding student-athletes as measured by their athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character.
White averaged 31.1 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists per game in leading Greenfield School to a 25-10 record and a North Carolina 1A Independent Schools state championship game appearance.
