The North Carolina Tar Heels men’s lacrosse team didn’t win the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship but it didn’t matter as they captured the 2016 National Championship.
But a year later, UNC completed its remarkable ACC tournament run with a win over Notre Dame on Sunday.
The 14-10 win over No. 10 Notre Dame on Sunday gave No. 18 UNC its first ACC lacrosse championship since 2013. It also made them eligible for the NCAA Tournament with a record of 8-7.
Chris Cloutier had three goals and two assists to lead the Tar Heels and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
