The North Carolina Tar Heels men’s lacrosse program had a down year, not making the 2019 NCAA Tournament but it wasn’t all bad for the program.
A bright spot was freshman Caton Johnson who was consistently one of UNC’s best players all season long. Now with the season over, Johnson is being rewarded for his play.
Just last week, Johnson was officially named the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Year for his play in 2019. The goalie was the only Tar Heel to earn an award for the conference at the end of the season.
Johnson started in six of the nine games he played in for the Tar Heels in 2019, and recorded a team-high 60 saves.
