CHAPEL HILL - Carolina opens its 2018 campaign with its first trip to the West Coast in 20 years when the Tar Heels take on Cal at Memorial Stadium Saturday at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT. UNC last played in the Golden State in 1998, a 37-34 loss at Stanford in week two of that season.
Carolina finished 3-9 in 2017, but finished the season with two wins in its final three games. Nathan Elliott took over as the starting quarterback following the 24-19 loss to Miami and led the Tar Heels to wins over Pitt and Western Carolina in November.
