UNC in the NFL: Julius Peppers placed on PUP list to start the season

Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers failed his physical and was subsequently placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, according to general manager Marty Hurney. It doesn’t appear to be a major setback, though, and Hurney doesn’t seem all that concerned about it.

Peppers had a busy offseason this year, coming to terms with the Panthers on a one-year, $5 million deal that brings him back to the league for a 17th season, as well as undergoing shoulder surgery to repair a labrum injury.

Last year, Peppers put together one of his best statistical seasons in the league, highlighted by his team-leading 11 sacks to go along with 33 total tackles.
