Former North Carolina standout Brice Johnson was waived by the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday, the team announced via Twitter.
Memphis made the move in order to create room for MarShon Brooks, a former first round draft pick out of Providence who signed a 10-day contract with the team on Tuesday afternoon. News of Johnson’s release broke around the same time as the team’s signing of Brooks.
Johnson and Brooks were both selected 25th in their respective drafts, and both have struggled to stick with NBA teams since being drafted.
Johnson has been out of college for just two years, but made stops in Los Angeles, Detroit and Memphis.
