It’s been a long and tumultuous couple of years for Matt Harvey.
Since returning to the mound for the ninth inning in Game 5 of the 2015 World Series, everything has gone downhill for the former New York Mets ace. That’s when Harvey had control of a 2-0 shutout over Kansas City, but then relinquished the lead, and eventually the game, leading to the Royals’ first world title in 30 years.
In the two-plus seasons since, Harvey has battled a variety of issues both on and off the field. Most recently, the former North Carolina standout was designated for assignment by the Mets after poor performances in the bullpen and a reluctance to play in the team’s minor league system.
