Woody Durham, as most of you know, was the long-time play-by-play announcer for North Carolina football and men’s basketball.
But what some of you may not know, is that Durham struggles with the degenerative neurocognitive disease, Primary Progressive Aphasia.
Raising awareness of aphasia has become Durham’s top priority since he retired as the voice of the Tar Heels, and on Wednesday he stood behind Gov Cooper while he signed the proclamation announcing June to be Aphasia Awareness Month in the state of North Carolina.
Durham, 75, went public with his diagnosis of Aphasia about a year ago.
