Tre Boston, North Carolina Tar Heels alum, is back with the team that drafted him in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. After two seasons out west with the Chargers and Cardinals, Boston has returned to North Carolina to join the Carolina Panthers.
This signing is significant, not only because of the Carolina connection, but the timing of the deal. NFL training camp was already underway and Boston remained a free agent coming off his one-year deal with Arizona.
The Panthers were working with what they had on the roster, but the Charlotte Observer reported that a more seasoned free safety was the better choice for Ron Rivera’s squad.
