The North Carolina Tar Heels got their 16th commitment from the class of 2019 on Sunday when defensive end Kevin Hester gave a verbal pledge to head coach Mack Brown.
The former basketball player turned pass rusher gave his commitment during an official visit to Chapel Hill this weekend. The commitment came just one week after assistant coaches Tim Cross and Robert Gillespie visited Hester at North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Hester, who had primarily focused on basketball until about a year ago, chose the Tar Heels over a number of other programs including Boston College, Rutgers, Southern Miss and Tulane.
