University of North Carolina first-year quarterback Sam Howell has been named first team Freshman All-American by The Athletic. The latest honor for Howell comes just a week after he was named Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie and Offensive Rookie of the Year by the league’s 14 head coaches and a 46-member media panel.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound signal caller out of Monroe, North Carolina put together one of the most impressive performances in college football this season, regardless of class. Of course, he didn’t get the kind of national recognition he deserved since he’s not playing at Oklahoma, Oregon, or a handful of Big 10 or SEC schools.
