North Carolina freshman quarterback Sam Howell is doing things for the Tar Heels that first-year players rarely do at the collegiate level. In fact, Howell’s doing things that very few players of any class do, particularly as it relates to the Atlantic Coast Conference and its rich history of talented quarterbacks.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Monroe, North Carolina native has already been named ACC Rookie of the Year in a landslide vote that saw him receive 42 more votes than the second-place finalist. He was also voted ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year, tallying 50 more votes than Louisville’s Javian Hawkins, who finished second with four votes.
