After the disastrous end to the last two seasons, changes had to be expected. With the departure of Drake Maye and the continued ineptitude of the pass rush by the UNC defensive front, either Mack Brown needed to cut bait and let Bubba Cunningham start over, or he needed something that would bring a dramatic improvement on one side of the ball to account for what is likely going to be a much different team offensively.
The thing about Mack is that he doesn’t leave quietly. So, he got to bask in the glory of having the number three draft pick while he offed Gene Chizik from his second stint with the Tar Heels.
