Another NFL Draft is in the books, and for the second straight year, a Tar Heel was selected in the first round: Omarion Hampton was taken with the 22nd overall pick by the Los Angeles Chargers. Unlike Drake Maye last year, though, he didn’t have any teammates join him — making 2025 the first draft since 2019 that UNC didn’t have multiple players selected. In a way, it’s a fitting epilogue to the Mack Brown 2.0 era, a reflection of the dwindling talent and NFL preparedness that UNC rosters saw as his time in Chapel Hill extended.
