UNC Football Opponent Preview: UConn

Non-playoff bowl games are a weird smorgasbord of things for a football program, its players, and its coaches even in the most normal of times, and the times in Chapel Hill are anything but. Ordinarily, you have NFL-bound players balancing their desires to go out on the best possible terms with their long-term health and career interests, coaches trying to strike a balance between their competitive instincts and the opportunity to scout the depths of the roster to see where they are set for the future, and, from the fans’ perspective, you’re kind of excited just to watch football but also fully aware of how pointless this game, weeks removed from the rest of the season and with absolutely no stakes (and in UNC’s case, feeling utterly like a consolation prize after a wet fart of a season where they should have won 6 games by accident), really is.
