Artificial field haters rejoice.
When Mack Brown was rehired at Carolina in the winter of 2018, one of the first things he did was rip out the natural grass in Kenan Stadium and replace it with an artificial surface. He listed out multiple reasons for it, and he had experience doing just this when in 2009 he had the University of Texas replace their grass field for an artificial surface. On his rehiring, he gave his primary reasons for the move:
“I can remember when we were here before that we had some grass issues and we had them at Texas and we changed to turf because we were going to have a fast team,” Brown said on National Signing Day.
