Former University of North Carolina standout Julius Peppers officially announced his retirement from the NFL after 17 seasons. The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft split his time between Carolina, Chicago and Green Bay, putting together an historic career that will end as a first-ballot hall of famer.
Peppers was drafted by the Panthers out of UNC and played there until 2010 when he signed a large deal with the Chicago Bears. He then joined the Green Bay Packers in free agency in 2014 before returning home to Carolina for the final two years of his career in 2017-18.
