Joe Lunardi said coming into Saturday’s game that UNC vs Pittsburgh was a “play out” game, having both schools in his Next Four Out column for the NCAA Tournament. Pitt got the best of Carolina when these two met just two games ago, but the Tar Heels found a way to prevail in a 67-66 win this time despite an ugly second half.
UNC started the game shooting the lights out. They missed just two shots out of their first dozen, taking advantage of a size mismatch down low with Ven-Allen Lubin. They cooled off noticeably when Pitt stopped switching, holding just a three-point lead at halftime after leading by as many as 11.
