CARY, North Carolina - Newly-minted ACC Player of the Year Hayley Carter won the clinching match to send top seed North Carolina to a 4-1 victory over eighth seed Wake Forest on Friday morning at the ACC Women’s Tennis Championship from Cary Tennis Park.
North Carolina (27-2) made it a clean sweep of all three doubles matches to open the day with an early 1-0 advantage over the Demon Deacons, who lost 7-0 to UNC earlier this spring in Chapel Hill.
Senior Ashley Dai continued her strong play in recent weeks on court six with a 6-1, 6-2 disposal of Luisa Fernandez to give Carolina a 2-0 edge and a step closer to reaching Saturday’s semifinal match.
