UNC’s game against Michigan State for third place in the Maui Invitational looked a lot like their other games. They fell behind big in the first half, as they’ve done all season, and a better second half put them in a position to win that they politely declined via some head-scratching decisions and brutal misses. It all ended with UNC on the losing end of a 94-91 overtime game.
Carolina scored 48 points in the second half, shooting 55% from the field and 56% from three. Unfortunately, their first half was so bad that even those stats only scratched out an opportunity to win in overtime.
