CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina will open NCAA Field Hockey Championship play Saturday as the No. 2 seed in the field, taking on the winner of a Tuesday play-in game between Boston University and Fairfield. The Tar Heels, who will host first and second round games, earned an automatic berth by winning the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship on Sunday afternoon in Charlottesville, Va.
On Saturday at UNC’s Francis E. Henry Stadium, the Tar Heels will face the BU-Fairfield winner at 11:30 a.m., and Wake Forest will play Michigan at 2 p.m. The winners will face off Sunday at 2 p.
