The NCAA transfer portal re-opens today for football, and the Tar Heels just got an unfortunate surprise: redshirt junior Beau Atkinson has decided to enter the portal off the heels of what was a pretty impressive 2024 campaign. This is a major blow to UNC’s roster considering the fact that the defensive line was already a work in progress.
Atkinson finished the 2024 season with 35 total tackles, 24 solo tackles, 11 assisted tackles, and 7.5 sacks, which was a team-high. His best performance this past season was against Florida State when he finished with 3.5 sacks and five total tackles.
