CHAPEL HILL—In a rigorous top-10 matchup, the fifth-ranked North Carolina women’s tennis team beat the No. 9 Texas A&M Aggies 4-0 Sunday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay, the second-ranked duo in the country, took down Rachel Pierson and Eva Paalma 6-0. The duo broke the Aggies three times with two straight aces from Kay on her last serve to take the first match.
Ashley Dai and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer took the early 5-0 lead over Domenica Gonzalez and Saska Gavrilovska, but the Aggies saved three match points to break Ouellet-Pizer at 5-1.
