CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Emily Murphy and Avery Patterson each scored, and No. 5 North Carolina beat NC State 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Dorrance Field, recording the program's 400th all-time home victory.
The Tar Heels have played 450 games at home sites since the program began in 1979 and has amassed a record of 400-32-18 in those games. Carolina has outscored its opponents by a 1,714-232 margin in those 450 games.
Murphy provided Carolina (11-3, 4-2 ACC) with all the offense it needed by heading a twice deflected corner kick into the back of the net in the 43rd minute.
