The North Carolina Tar Heels were at least guaranteed a share of the ACC regular season title going into Saturday’s game against Duke. But they left Cameron Indoor Stadium as the outright champions and got some revenge against their rivals.
Dominating the glass, the Tar Heels never trailed in the game jumping out to an early 6-0 lead. They hardly looked back aside from Duke rallying in the second half to tie the game and pull to within 2 a few times late.
But the Tar Heels went 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the final minutes to seal it with guard Marcus Paige hitting four.
