You can cross off class of 2020 guard D.J. Steward off the North Carolina Tar Heels’ big board.
After the Tar Heels showed interest in the five-star recruit out of Chicago by watching him play on the AAU circuit with Mean Streets, they decided to offer the guard in hopes of adding him as a legit wing. But on Wednesday afternoon, Steward announced his decision and now UNC will have to face him at minimum twice a year.
Steward took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to announce his decision, picking the Duke Blue Devils over the Tar Heels, Texas Longhorns, Arizona, Illinois, DePaul and Louisville among other programs:
Steward’s stock really rose over the Spring and Summer AAU circuits, picking up offers from UNC and Duke a long the way.
