Luke Maye scored a game-high 20 points and hauled in 11 rebounds for the Tar Heels, as No. 9 North Carolina beat 15th-ranked Louisville 79-69 at the KFC Yum Center on Saturday afternoon.
Cameron Johnson added 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Garrison Brooks and Kenny Williams scored 12 and 10 points, respectively. The Tar Heels’ fifth starter, Coby White, scored just eight points on 3-of-14 shooting, going 0-for-6 from three-point range.
And despite White having his worst game of the season, the Tar Heels dominated Louisville in nearly every major statistical category on Saturday. Most importantly, North Carolina got numerous second-chance opportunities thanks to a plus-17 rebounding margin, including an 18-7 edge on the offensive boards.
