Jared Hamilton scored a team-high 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor, and Boston College beat North Carolina by a final score of 71-70 at the Dean Smith Center on Saturday night.
Hamilton knocked down 3-of-6 three-pointers, and 3-of-4 from the free throw line off the Boston College bench. Former Duke guard Derryck Thornton added 15 points, three rebounds and three assists, while freshman guard Jay Heath scored a dozen.
The Eagles shot 26-for-56 from the floor, and 7-for-18 from beyond the arc. They got outrebounded by the Tar Heels by seven, while committing 15 fouls and 23 turnovers, but made enough plays in the end to survive and even their record at 11-11.
