The North Carolina basketball program got off to a quick start with the class of 2020, securing a commitment from Day’Ron Sharpe the summer before his junior year of high school.
Merely a 4-star prospect at the time of his verbal pledge to the Tar Heels, the 6-foot-10, 246-pound Sharpe was tabbed the No. 72 recruit in the nation the week after his commitment. In the time since, he’s added a fifth star to his ranking, and moved up 50 spots in the 247Sports Composite.
Evidenced by his quick rise to 5-star status, Sharpe was both underrated and under-recruited when Roy Williams and the Tar Heels nabbed him just over 13 months ago.
