Former University of North Carolina power forward Sam Perkins has been named to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2018.
Perkins is one of six players and two coaches who will be inducted to the Hall of Fame at a ceremony on November 18th in Kansas City, Missouri.
Perkins was ACC Rookie of the Year in 1981, and a first team All-Conference selection on three occasions. He was instrumental in the Tar Heels’ 1982 NCAA championship run, and named to the NCAA All-Tournament team for his efforts. Perkins was named a second-team All-American as a sophomore, and a consensus first team All-American the following two seasons.
