Luke Maye’s basketball career at the University of North Carolina is officially over as he hopes to earn a spot in the NBA with the upcoming Summer League. The Huntersville, North Carolina native was one of two members in UNC’s 2015 class and was just a three-star recruit coming out.
But Maye built his own legacy at UNC over the four-year period and on Tuesday, he added to that legacy one more time.
On Tuesday, the University announced the winners of the 2019 Patterson Medal, awarding it to Ashley Hoffman and Maye. The award is the most prestigious athletic honor that can be awarded at the University of North Carolina and is based on is based on career accomplishments for athletes.
