As the Sports world revolves around Kobe Bryant’s final game in the NBA, one has to wonder what could have been for the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Bryant was one of the best high school basketball players in the country in 1996 but decided to head straight for the NBA, rather than go to college. Many colleges including North Carolina were recruiting the prospect out of Philadelphia.
The guard was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. But years later he revealed where he would have attended college.

Defying urban legend that he was Duke-bound, had he gone to college instead of the NBA straight out of high school, Bryant said he was leaning toward North Carolina.
