UNC Basketball: Former Tar Heels point guard Kendall Marshall retires

Former North Carolina point guard Kendall Marshall has retired from professional basketball according to NBA G-League writer Chris Reichert.

A 2010 McDonald’s All-American, Marshall committed to the University of North Carolina over offers from Georgetown, Villanova and Virginia. During his time in Chapel Hill, Marshall astounded onlookers with his uncanny court vision and passing ability.

In 2011, he was named to the All-ACC Freshman team and third team All-Conference. As a sophomore, Marshall led the ACC in assists, averaging 9.8 per game during the 2011-12 season. He was subsequently named second team All-ACC, third team All-American and received the Bob Cousy Award as college basketball’s top point guard.
