It was more good news for Roy Williams and the North Carolina basketball program when 5-star class of 2020 prospect Ziaire Williams named the Tar Heels to his list of seven finalists on Saturday night.
The 6-foot-9, 185-pound Williams had nearly 20 scholarship offers from the likes of Cal, Notre Dame, TCU, Virginia and Wisconsin, among others, but it was Arizona, Duke, North Carolina, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA and USC that made his list of seven finalists.
North Carolina and Stanford have long been thought of as favorites for Williams’ commitment. The Tar Heels’ Hall-of-Fame head coach battling his long-time former assistant-turned-head coach, Jerod Haase, has produced an interesting dynamic in the Williams recruitment.
