Despite missing on nearly all of their targets in the class of 2019 — a turn of events that forced head coach Roy Williams to scour the transfer market this offseason — the North Carolina Tar Heels are still in the running for a few of the nation’s top uncommitted prospects.
Of those prospects, 5-star point guard and consensus top-5 player Cole Anthony appears to be a near shoe-in to commit to North Carolina. But top-20 forwards Matthew Hurt and Precious Achiuwa seem like long-shots for the Tar Heels at this point.
The tide may be changing in Chapel Hill, though, given the early returns on North Carolina’s top targets in the class of 2020.
