Former UNC baseball stars Zac Gallen and J.B. Bukauskas are on the move after separate Wednesday trades sent both players to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Gallen, a 23-year-old starting pitcher who debuted with the Miami Marlins in June, was shipped to Arizona in exchange for shortstop prospect Jazz Chisholm. Gallen has been very effective in seven MLB starts, recording 43 strikeouts and a 2.72 ERA.
Gallen earned his first major league victory against the Chicago White Sox on July 24. He gave up two hits in seven innings of work. He faced 26 batters, and struck out nine in the 2-0 Marlins victory.
