The North Carolina baseball team improved to 11-1 on the season with a weekend series sweep of UMass Lowell at Boshamer Stadium.
After dropping a Wednesday afternoon game to VCU — the Tar Heels’ first loss of the season, and subsequent end to their 26-game home win streak — North Carolina welcomed UMass Lowell to Chapel Hill for a three-game set.
The River Hawks came to town with a record of 0-8, and things didn’t get any better after their Saturday double-header and Sunday finale against the Tar Heels. A 5-0 shutout in Game 1 turned out to be the closest and most competitive contest of the series.
