After closing out the regular season as one of the hottest teams in college baseball, the No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels lost to Pittsburgh in their ACC Tournament opener on Wednesday.
Despite jumping out to 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Tar Heels scored just two more times over the last eight frames and lost by a final score of 5-4.
Dallas Tessar led the game off with a walk before Michael Busch put runners on first and third with a single to right field. Tessar scored the game’s first run on a Kyle Datres groundout to first base, and Ike Freeman brought Busch home on an RBI single to center.
