Despite falling to Florida State in the ACC Championship on Sunday, No. 2 North Carolina was selected to host the 2017 NCAA Chapel Hill Regional as an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship.
After missing the tournament each of the last two seasons, North Carolina finished its 2017 campaign with a 47-12 record, maintaining a top-25 ranking all season.
It’s the ninth time in school history that North Carolina has hosted a regional and eighth time since 2006. The most recent time was in 2013 when the Tar Heels beat Florida Atlantic to earn a trip to the College World Series.
