The five finalists for this award include North Carolina’s J.B. Bukauskas (junior), Oregon State’s Luke Heimlich (junior), St. John’s Sean Mooney (freshman), Loyola-Marymount’s Cory Abbott (junior) and Texas Tech’s Steven Gingery (sophomore).
Bukauskas ended his junior season at UNC with a perfect undefeated 9-0 record, along with a 2.02 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 89 innings.
Although there is tough competition for the College Baseball Foundation’s Pitcher of the Year Award, Bukauskas is the only pitcher among the finalists with no losses.
In addition, Bukauskas is the only finalist from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The award will be presented later on this summer.
