UNC has seen some absolutely generational talent come through across its various sports in the past few years. Erin Matson was the best college field hockey player in the country for basically five years running and has a serious argument for the title of most dominant collegiate athlete ever. Drake Maye, while he’s not going to threaten Lawrence Taylor or Julius Peppers for the title of UNC Football’s greatest player of all time, did rewrite the program’s record books at the sport’s most important position to the point that everybody covering him simply ran out of ways to say he was playing quarterback in a way Chapel Hill simply hadn’t seen before.
