Now with the USA Baseball experience over for the three Tar Heels that spend a couple of weeks in Cary, they and the rest of the Diamond Heels assigned to various summer leagues can concentrate on spending the rest of their summer getting more plate appearances and instruction from different voices. They get to face various hitters they’d otherwise never see, or they start learning the experience of handling and getting at-bats with the wooden bat instead of the metal one used in college.
We’ve kept up with the Tar Heels during previous summers, but if you’re new to this it essentially works like this: all across the country various leagues are formed that played in the summer only and are made up of collegians.
