Going into the ACC Baseball Championship, the feeling was that the host stadium—Truist Field in Charlotte—was going to be a launch pad for home runs. As the Carolina offense was one of the best in the country, the expectation was that the Diamond Heels would take advantage.
Even with Vance Honeycutt taking the day off for back spasms, the Tar Heels did bring the homers to Charlotte on Thursday. Four of the first five batters for the Tar Heels hit a home run, and two more would be added as Carolina pounded Pittsburgh 12-2 in game one yesterday.
