After watching a couple of days of action in Charlotte, Scott Forbes and the North Carolina Tar Heels will take the field for the first time in the ACC Baseball Championship to open their postseason. As the tournament’s overall #1 seed, Forbes had the ability to choose when his team would play and opted for games on Thursday and Friday — playing their pool games Thursday/Friday allows them to simulate the schedule they’ve been on for the whole season and keeps them in rhythm ahead of the NCAA Tournament starting next week.
I start by talking about the game’s importance in terms of placement in the schedule because that’s actually more meaningful than the actual opponent.
